LURIE McCUISTION (KOHTZ) |
Vangie Lurie Alldredge McCuistion (Kohtz), 93-year-old Burley resident died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2004, at the Cassia Regional Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 18, 1911, in San Jose, Sonora, Mexico,
the daughter of Isaac Alldredge III and Delila Mariah VanLeuven Alldredge. Lurie
married Arthur Robert McCuistion on Nov. 11, 1932, in Mt. Trumbull, Ariz. Their
marriage was later solemnized in the St. George Temple. He preceded her in death
on June 14, 1965.
She later married Ralph Kohtz on Sept.18, 1971, in Burley. He preceded her in
death on November 5, 2002.
She is an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
serving in many capacities in all auxiliaries and served as a Visiting Teacher
until the time of her death. Lurie was not only a mother, but a best friend to
her family. She loved life and was very compassionate, friendly and adventurous.
She especially loved calling Bingo with the senior citizens. Lurie enjoyed
square dancing and supporting and watching her grandchildren in their
activities.
Survivors include six children, Edith (Alonzo A.) Ray of Eagar, Ariz., Elaine
Reynolds of Boise, Arthur Lloyd "Buzz" (Betty) McCuistion of Burley,
Dallace A. "Toad" (Jane) McCuistion of Highland, Utah, Howard
A."Tuff" (Gloria) McCuistion of Jerome, and Karen (Rudy) Anderson of
Salem, Utah; three step children, Delbert (Frances) Kohtz of Eden, Evan (Alice)
Kohtz of Hazelton, and Susan (Bob) Guntren of Storm Lake, Iowa; a brother, Verl
(Ada) Alldredge and a sister-in-law, Myrtle Alldredge both of St. George, Utah;
35 grandchildren; 80 great grandchildren; 13 great great grandchildren; 18 step
grandchildren; and 10 step great grandchildren.
In addition to her husbands she was preceded in death by four brothers and
sisters, Aritta Alldredge, Irvin Alldredge, Nora Iverson, and Dee Alldredge;
three grandsons, and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004, at the Burley
Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2050 Normal
Ave., with Bishop Reese Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in the Gem Memorial
Gardens.
Friends may call at the Payne Mortuary, 221 West Main Street in Burley on
Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the church from 12 to 12:45 p.m. prior to the
funeral on Thursday. The family suggests memorials be given to the Daughters of
Utah Pioneers, the LDS Church Perpetual Education Fund, or the LDS Church
Missionary Fund.
